Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays!

This Christmas season came up on us pretty darn fast, I can’t believe the year is almost up!
It’s been a hectic couple of weeks, and I’m sooo looking forward to some time off doing absolutely nothing.

Merry Christmas y’all and a Happy New Year!

Home Depot – Big Builders Workshop

Asa has pretty much played his Fisher Price Laugh and Learn set out, so when I saw this Home Depot Workshop on sale, I knew I had to have it.

I’m sure he’ll have tones of fun with it, once he realizes how to work it.

Grandma got him the Little People Zoo Talkers Animal Sounds Zoo. It looks like so much fun, I can’t wait to play with it. Asa is pretty good with his animal sounds, so I know he will love this. It comes with three Animal Zoom Talkers, so I was on a rampage to find all of the other animals. Still outstanding are the hippo, flamingo, ostrich and orangutan. Apparently they are pretty hard to come by and I’m not paying $11.99 on eBay for them either.

I’ve read reviews of this and some people have mentioned that their box shows a monkey as one of the little zoo animals, but instead came with a gorilla. I know for sure the box had a monkey on it so I’m hoping mine will have one. I already purchased a gorilla separately!

Bath time

Asa has curly hair. Sure it looks cute, but when it comes down to combing it, it’s a battle. He hates having his hair combed. I use Original Sprout baby products, only because it’s all natural and the stuff works! Our current arsenal is made up of the Hair and Body Baby Wash, Detangler and Hair Oil. Some may think that I’m going too far with all these natural products… Well, I say the alternative is not an option. I only use natural products for my hair, why wouldn’t I do the same for Asa?

Anyways, these products work great however, my problem was the small infant comb I was using. It just wasn’t cutting it. You know which one I’m talking about. The one with the rubberized grip and thin teeth. Great for strait hair infants, not for curly hair toddlers. I remember seeing this comb at the Baby Shak and wanted to give it a try. It’s a cross between a comb and pick… and works freakin’ eh!

Kid-Comb

His curls are so defined yet voluminous. I wish I purchased the comb the first time I saw it.  Here is the end result:

I’m lovin’ it! I just wish hey made an adult version for my hair. I need a good detangling comb. Any suggestions?

Summertime Fun!

This summer should be amazing! Asa’s old enough to really appreciate the hot weather, and all of the fun activities we have in store for him.

Sure we’ll go on long walks in his wagon, but for those hot summer days, we picked up a kiddie pool… although it’s not the one I wanted. I had hoped to purchase this lobster pool, with the shade but it was sold out.

I though all was lost, but then Nick happened upon this one:

It’s big enough for me to fit into, and enjoy all the fun! Just gotta wait for the hot weather to make an appearance.

#NaturalHair Fail

I decided to get my natural hair pressed a couple weeks ago, before our trip to Montreal. I fully expected my hair to revert back to my curls… But it didn’t. I don’t know what happened, I don’t think my stylist used head protectant because my hair had a mild burning odor to it.

Nearly 1/3 is a stringy damaged mess. The rear, still kinky but not as before. I think I’m going do another big chop before my maternity leave is over, or just put in twists. I’m actually OK with this (after linking myself for letting this happen. SIGH! This will give my edges some time to grow in with the rest of my hair.

Eighteen months of new growth down the drain. I need to find a natural hair salon stat!

Lunch Time

This kid just started eating solids and I’ve already purchased his lunch bag for daycare.

Dabbawalla Monkey Lunchbag

  • Integrated easy-to-grip handle on top
  • Two inside mesh pockets
  • Insulating construction helps holds temperature for hours – interior ice pack pocket for longer outings
  • Outside back pocket
  • Lightweight
  • Stands upright for easy inside access
  • Dimensions: 12″L x 11″W x 5″D

I’m obsessed with monkeys, they are just so cute!  So naturally, I had to bestow my obsession on big boy Asa.  I can picture him walking to school with his treats in tow.

I also got this fancy lunchbox to put all his vittles in.

Beaba Lunchbox

  • 1 nonslip plate.
  • 1 storage container.
  • 1 keep-warm lid.
  • 1 ergonomic spoon.
  • 1 ergonomic fork.
  • 8″ x 7 1/4″ x 3 1/4″ high.

I wouldn’t mind something like this for myself, I instead got these re-usable snack bags from Graze Organic.

Graze Organic Re-usable sandwich and snack bags

  • 100% certified organic cotton
  • No plastic lining
  • Earth friendly water based inks
  • Made in USA

These are silk-screened by hand using water-based inks on 100% certified organic cotton.  A set of 3 will run you $25… not bad, when you consider how much you would spend otherwise on those zip-lock baggies.

I purchased these from Erica of Everything Mom and Baby through her on-line shop.  I found out about her blog and shop by chance and never looked back.  She has a wealth of knowledge about the latest and greatest for you and your baby.  Her shop inventory focuses on natural and organic products… only the best for big boy Asa!

And for snacks and lunch on the go, I purchases these Wean Green storage cubes from Erica’s shop as well.

Wean Green baby food containers

  • Made of durable glass with a silicone-sealed lid
  • Safe & environmentally friendly
  • BPA, PVC, Phthalates, and Plasticizer free
  • Glass is 100% recyclable and sustainable
  • Smart Clips lock and secure food inside
  • Measuring lines help you monitor food intake
  • Stands up to the extreme temperatures required to make, store, freeze, heat, and serve baby food

This boy is set!  Currently his favourite foods are  oatmeal cereal and bartlett pears.
